Chapter 5: The Standard Controls using the built-in interface elements

In this chapter, what is discussed is that the importance and versatility of standard controls in iPhone app design, The chapter emphasized the familiarity and efficiency that standard controls bring to user interfaces, making them intuitive for users.  There is the design considerations and best practices for incorporating standard icons in iPhone app interfaces, specifically for tab bars, navigation bars, and toolbars.  The Icon Design emphasizes the importance of visually distinct icons while the tool bars share the same set of icons.

 

There is functionality of the indexes, table view, and grouped lists. The index lists are very long and has many categories. There are grouped  too where these visually cluster the table view list into blocks. Developers are encouraged to limit preference settings and avoid relying on the settings app for user preferences. There should a limit of two bars, you should understand which keyboard options to offer for user and limit what the preference settings are.
