Type & Image

Sequence Project

Synopsis:

I had to design an accordion that contained text by John F. Pile: Purpose, Form and Meaning.

There would be a sequence of photographic images, which will result in a I mage manipulation with one single photograph. There will be a total of 6 spreads and a title page. I could only use black and white images and only 1 spot color.

  SPECIFICATION:

-8" x 6.5" (spread will be 16 w X 6.5 h)

  • Indesign + Photoshop

Week 1:

I had to choose an item that was special to me and I choose , my tennis racket because before my Dad passed away, tennis was a sport that we played together all the time. I also did my first round of sketches which showcased the tennis along the entire spread and divided itself equally.

Week 2:

I studied the passage and focused on the important words that divided each section of reading like Problem, Research, Creative, Proposal , Evaluation and Implementation.

I choose a color to work with which was Purple because it represented grief. I used photoshop and desaturate the colors and change it to the perfect purple.

Week 3:

I digiltized my work and laid it all out with words forming the shape of the tennis balls and the shades of purple of the actual circles changing its opacity from light to dark throughout the spreads until it reached the end. The balls is suppose ti represent the problem of it hitting the center of the racket, until it did end at the center.I also wanted the world PROBLEM to fit in between the net squares for a brilliant, specially aware design element. The design came out flawless as I changed the opacity of the tennis rackets too within the design.

Final Project

After, changing somethings around like how the text sat and formed around the racket and places the words through the spread to look like balls. I also added dimension to the design , by changing the opacity and color options of the tennis racket itself.
