Chapter 9: Platform and Posture, Mobile Devices, Other Platforms and APP Good Posture
Postures for Mobile Devices
What I learned in Chapter 9 is that the powerful mobile devices we have which includes the high resolution as well as multi touch has created a new form of functionality and integration. For handheld devices, phones were low res and hard to navigate until the iPhone came.
There is satellite posture which means retrieving and viewing data and they are less common is the model mostly for cameras. There’s standalone posture is for handheld computing devices that has a high-res screen and are full screen.
Postures for Other Platforms
Postures for Kiosks include embedded systems, like the TVs, automobile dashboards, ATM’s and a lot more. For Kiosk the design should be for first-time use. First, users of kiosks often are first-time users (with some obvious exceptions, such as ATM users and users of ticket machines for public transport) and usually are not daily users. When it comes to Automotive interfaces, they are touch screens and interfaces are rich and dynamic. Appliance interfaces are transient and should be presented simple.
To end this, giving your Apps could posture means that it comes first when designing some type of interactive product. As a designer, we should see what behavioral and technical aspect comes into play and see how the user and design work together.
